This policy explains how we respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement in accordance with the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512.

Our Position on Content

News World Inside is a news and commentary blog. We aim to publish original reporting and to use third-party material only where permitted by law, including under principles of fair use, with proper attribution, or with the rights holder’s permission. Images, quotations, and excerpts are used for the purposes of news reporting, commentary, and criticism.

If you are a copyright owner (or an agent authorized to act on behalf of one) and you believe that material available on our website infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notification as described below.

Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice

To file a notice of alleged infringement, please provide our Designated Copyright Agent with a written communication (by email or mail) that includes the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or a representative list if multiple works are covered by a single notice.
  3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, including the specific URL(s) on News World Inside where the material is located, so that we can locate it.
  4. Your contact information, including your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the copyright owner’s behalf.

Please note: Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees.

To help us process your request quickly, please include “DMCA” in the subject line and provide the direct URL(s) of the material in question.

Our Response

Upon receiving a valid notice that substantially complies with the requirements above, we will act expeditiously to review the claim and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the material alleged to be infringing. We may also notify the person who posted the content that it has been removed or disabled.

Filing a Counter-Notification

If you believe that material you posted was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification to our Copyright Agent that includes:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed or disabled and the location at which it appeared before it was removed.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, mailing address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the United States, the district in which News World Inside may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notification or their agent.

Upon receipt of a valid counter-notification, we may forward it to the original complaining party. If that party does not notify us within ten (10) business days that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the allegedly infringing activity, we may restore the removed material.

Repeat Infringers

In appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, News World Inside may disable or terminate access for users or contributors who are found to be repeat infringers.
