The International squad won all five matches at Medinah on Friday to build a 7-3 lead over the United States.
The International team swept all five foursomes matches on Friday at Medinah Country Club to take a 7-3 lead over the United States at the Presidents Cup.
The clean sweep in Chicago erased an early American lead and put the International squad, captained by Geoff Ogilvy, ahead heading into the weekend. Min Woo Lee and Ryan Fox were among the winners for the International side, while Nick Taylor played in his tournament debut. AFP reported that Friday marked only the third time the Internationals have swept a session since the event began in 1994. It was also the second straight Presidents Cup where they swept the Friday foursomes, according to USA Today.
The U.S. team, captained by Brandt Snedeker, entered the 2026 Presidents Cup seeking an 11th consecutive victory. The Americans held a 3-2 advantage after Thursday’s opening four-ball session, where world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns rallied late to secure a 1-up win against Lee and Sungjae Im. Friday’s alternate-shot session ended without a single point for the Americans.
