The Jackass star wore full pads on set in Knoxville ahead of Tennessee’s matchup against No. 1 Texas.
Johnny Knoxville joined ESPN’s “College GameDay” as the celebrity guest picker on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Knoxville, Tennessee, for College GameDay Week 4 ahead of the Tennessee game against No. 1 Texas.
Knoxville, the “Jackass” creator who is from Knoxville, appeared on set wearing full pads and a Tennessee Volunteers uniform. During the broadcast, he poked fun at host Pat McAfee’s album and attempted to bribe a referee before the game at Neyland Stadium.
McAfee announced Knoxville as the picker on his show following rumors that Donald Trump might take the desk. Trump was expected to attend the game at Neyland Stadium, but outlets reported he wouldn’t appear on the “College GameDay” set. In a poll run by The Tennessean asking fans who they wanted as guest picker, Knoxville finished third with 10.6% of the vote.
The set also featured former Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning, who appeared alongside McAfee as a fan made a field goal to win $1.5 million in a kicking contest. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel also made a charity throw on the show ahead of the Volunteers facing Texas and quarterback Arch Manning in the teams’ first meeting in nearly 60 years.
