Kalshi odds suggest Lincoln Riley is likely to be fired

Betting odds on Kalshi indicate the USC head coach could be dismissed as the Trojans navigate a high buyout and mounting pressure.

Betting odds on Kalshi suggest Southern California Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley is likely to be fired, according to Yahoo Sports.

Riley joined USC after compiling a 55-10 record at Oklahoma. Five seasons into his tenure, the Trojans haven’t reached the College Football Playoff under him, leaving fans calling for a change.

Moving on from Riley would carry significant financial costs. Fox analyst Joel Klatt called firing the head coach a “rash decision” and warned it could cost USC well over $100 million, with one headline citing a $120 million figure. College Football Network reported that USC faces a $70 million buyout if it decides to terminate Riley’s contract.

Not everyone is pushing for Riley’s exit. Former USC Heisman Trophy winner Carson Palmer defended the coach on “Herd with Colin Cowherd,” pointing out that a 5-1 team still has major matchups ahead.

USC heads to Happy Valley on Saturday, Oct. 10, to face Penn State. The game matches Riley against former assistant D’Anton Lynn, who spent two seasons as USC’s defensive coordinator before taking the same position at Penn State. Riley’s current defensive coordinator, Gary Patterson, was absent from the sidelines during a recent game against Washington, an outing in which Riley said poor tackling had “zero excuse.”
