Peacock will carry every MLB wild card game starting Tuesday before adding the animated film ‘Minions & Monsters’ on Oct. 28.
Peacock will stream every inning of Major League Baseball’s wild card round starting Tuesday, followed next month by the streaming debut of ‘Minions & Monsters’ on Oct. 28.
Wild card playoff schedule and matchups
The best-of-three baseball series features four games a day on Tuesday and Wednesday at 2 p.m., 5 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern time. NBC will air the 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. games on broadcast television, while the other two will run on NBC Sports Network. Between one and four games will follow on Thursday depending on series standings, with NBC broadcasting up to three deciding games before later playoff rounds move to Turner and Fox. Peacock will stream all eight to 12 games in the wild card round.
The matchups include the Boston Red Sox against the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies against the Atlanta Braves. In the other series, the Chicago Cubs face the San Diego Padres, and the Chicago White Sox play the Houston Astros. It’s only the fourth time both Chicago teams have reached the playoffs in the same year, following 1906, 2008 and 2020. Houston qualified after an 81-81 regular season, becoming the first team in major league history to reach the postseason without a winning record over a full 162-game schedule.
Subscriber growth and fall movie release
NBCUniversal acquired the wild card rights in November 2025 under a three-year contract worth a reported $600 million. Peacock reached 48 million subscribers at the end of June after adding 2 million in the second quarter, when it turned a profit for the first time since launching six years ago. The streaming service also raised its prices in August.
On Oct. 28, Peacock will add ‘Minions & Monsters’ after its July 1 theatrical release. The animated film earned $524 million worldwide, ranking as the ninth-highest-grossing movie globally in 2026. The seventh installment in the ‘Despicable Me’ franchise places the Minions in 1920s Hollywood, where they accidentally release monsters onto the world.
The voice cast features Allison Janney, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Christoph Waltz, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan, Trey Parker, George Lucas and Pierre Coffin, who voices the Minions. Outlets gave differing accounts of who directed the film: Deadline reported that Coffin directed the movie, while Variety reported that Coffin and Patrick Delage directed it together.
