Kristen Stewart: from Bella to acclaimed lead and director
Kristen Stewart played Bella Swan across all five films. Since the saga ended, she built one of the most respected careers of the group by moving into independent film. Her performance as Princess Diana in the 2021 drama Spencer earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress, her first Oscar nod.

Robert Pattinson: the Batman era
Robert Pattinson was Edward Cullen, the role that made him a global name. After Twilight, he deliberately chose smaller, riskier films such as Good Time and The Lighthouse before landing one of the biggest jobs in Hollywood. He played Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman (2022), and he is confirmed to return as Batman in a sequel, though that follow-up has been pushed back several times.

Taylor Lautner: life after the spotlight
Taylor Lautner played Jacob Black and was, for a stretch, one of the most photographed young actors in the world. Of the three leads, he is the one who stepped furthest back from film. Rather than chase blockbusters, he turned to a quieter public life.
Lautner married Taylor Dome in 2022, and together they host The Squeeze, a podcast focused on mental health and well-being. In one 2025 episode the couple talked about watching the full Twilight franchise together, and Lautner has reunited with several castmates as guests. In March 2026 the couple announced they are expecting their first child. He has not formally retired from acting, so future roles remain possible.
The supporting cast that got bigger after Twilight

Anna Kendrick played Bella’s classmate Jessica Stanley. The Cullens today
The actors who played the Cullen family have stayed unusually close, and they reunite regularly at fan conventions.
Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) has continued acting in film and television. She married Paul Khoury in 2018, and the couple welcomed a daughter in 2022.
Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale) shifted much of her focus to business. In 2017 she co-founded BaYou with Love, a sustainable jewelry and lifestyle brand. She is married to actor Ian Somerhalder.
Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen) went on to a starring role as Dr. Cooper on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie and has expanded into directing and producing.
Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen) took the title role in the 2014 action film The Legend of Hercules and has continued to work in film and television.
Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale) has continued acting alongside his music work.
Elizabeth Reaser (Esme Cullen) later appeared in the acclaimed Netflix horror series The Haunting of Hill House (2018).

Gil Birmingham (Billy Black) may have the most visible post-Twilight run of the supporting cast. He played Chief Thomas Rainwater across the hit series Yellowstone (2018 to 2024) and is tied to its spin-off, in addition to acclaimed film work in Hell or High Water and Wind River.
Why did some of the cast step away from Hollywood?
There is no single reason, and it is worth being careful here rather than guessing at private motives. What the public record shows is a pattern of choice. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson both spoke openly, in interviews at the time, about wanting to prove themselves in smaller, character-driven films after such a large franchise, and both leaned into independent cinema before returning to big projects.
