The 2026 WNBA playoffs tip off Sunday with four best-of-three first-round series, headlined by the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx taking on the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces facing the Indiana Fever.
Lynx meet Liberty in Finals rematch
Minnesota locked up the No. 1 seed on Tuesday before closing the regular season Thursday with an 86-66 win against Indiana. Kayla McBride scored 22 points on 6-for-10 shooting from 3-point range, Natasha Howard scored 21 points, and Courtney Williams recorded nine points, seven rebounds and 10 assists. The Lynx played without point guard Olivia Miles, who missed her second straight game with a left calf injury.
The Lynx open against the eighth-seeded Liberty on Sunday at 1 p.m. Central time on ABC in Minneapolis. Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday in New York, with Game 3 back in Minneapolis on Thursday if necessary. The matchup is a rematch of the 2024 WNBA Finals. New York finished the regular season 26-18 under first-year head coach Chris DeMarco after losing 83-65 to the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday.
Aces host banged-up Fever
The No. 3 seed Aces host the No. 6 seed Fever in Las Vegas on Sunday. Las Vegas enters the postseason on a seven-game winning streak after earning its 31st win of the season Thursday, defeating the Phoenix Mercury 100-82. A’ja Wilson scored 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in that game.
Indiana finished the regular season with a 28-16 record, dropping to the sixth seed following Thursday’s loss in Minnesota. The Fever trailed by 30 points at halftime before head coach Stephanie White sat the starters for the second half. Caitlin Clark shot 1-for-12 from the field.
Indiana will also be shorthanded in the backcourt. Veteran backup guard Ty Harris broke her left fibula on a third-quarter layup attempt Thursday and was carried off the floor. The team announced Saturday that she will miss the rest of the season. Starting center Aliyah Boston left Thursday’s game with a right lower-leg injury, though she is expected to play against Las Vegas.
