Oregon quarterback Dante Moore left Saturday night’s game against USC in an ambulance after taking a late hit to the head during the second quarter at the Coliseum field.
The Dante Moore hit happened midway through the second quarter as Moore scrambled upfield and began to slide toward the ground. Southern California linebacker Desman Stephens II struck him late, resulting in an ejection for targeting. Stephens then drew attention for his reaction on the sideline. The Dante Moore injury delayed the game for 15 minutes while medical staff treated him, and players from both teams had to be separated after a fight broke out on the field.
Moore, a Heisman Trophy candidate and projected high NFL draft pick, was stretchered and carted off before leaving the stadium in an ambulance. Oregon coach Dan Lanning made his feelings clear regarding the targeting hit and later provided a brief Dante Moore update on the quarterback’s status.
Backup quarterback Dylan Raiola entered the game after waiting three games for a meaningful snap with the Ducks. Raiola threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns, leading 20th-ranked Oregon to a 41-27 victory over the 12th-ranked Trojans.
