Wrestling world pays tribute after AEW star Pac dies at 40

Benjamin Satterley, who wrestled as Pac in AEW and Neville in WWE, was found dead Sunday in Illinois.

Professional wrestler Benjamin Satterley, known in All Elite Wrestling as Pac, was found dead Sunday in Illinois at age 40. His death occurred hours after he performed at AEW’s All Out pay-per-view event.

AEW opened its “Dynamite” broadcast Wednesday with a tribute to Satterley. The roster gathered on the entrance stage as broadcaster Tony Schiavone spoke in his memory. The broadcast then showed a promo delivered by Jon Moxley after Moxley lost an AEW World Championship match to Will Ospreay at All Out. Moxley gave the speech flanked by his Death Riders stablemates, Marina Shafir, Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta and Pac, marking what Schiavone said was Pac’s final time on AEW cameras.

Later in Wednesday’s show, Moxley made an AEW Continental Championship defense against Orange Cassidy. A chair was placed near the arena entrance in honor of Pac as Moxley walked out. After Moxley won the match to keep the title, fellow AEW wrestler Bryan Danielson entered the ring, and the two embraced in honor of Pac.

Tributes also emerged from across the wrestling industry. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, a board member of WWE’s parent company TKO, posted an Instagram video offering condolences to Satterley’s family, AEW owner Tony Khan, wrestler QT Marshall and the AEW locker room. “When we lose one of our own, it hurts,” Johnson said. WWE also displayed an on-screen tribute graphic for Satterley before “Monday Night Raw.”

Satterley was among the first wrestlers to join AEW when the company launched in 2019, going on to win multiple championships. He previously spent several years in WWE wrestling under the names Adrian Neville and Neville, where he also earned multiple titles.
