Apple adds AI features and MotionVFX tools to Creator Studio

A November update brings OpenAI assistants, image generation, and integrated video assets to Apple’s creative app bundle.

Apple is updating its Apple Creator Studio software package in November, adding generative artificial intelligence tools and video editing integrations across its creative applications. The software additions were announced during Apple’s Pro and Tell week, coinciding with the launch of the M6-powered iMac and 14-inch MacBook Pro, TechRadar reported.

Video and image editing updates

Final Cut Pro is adding built-in assets from MotionVFX following Apple’s purchase of the company earlier this year, according to Engadget. In a press release, Apple stated that integrating MotionVFX gives video editors “rapid access to extensive professional video effects and content.” The integration provides thousands of creative elements directly inside the editing suite, including graphics, themes, titles, transitions, templates, and specialized rotoscoping and color grading tools. Final Cut Pro also includes a Content Hub stocked with curated videos, photos, and backgrounds.

Editors working in Final Cut Pro can now detach video clips from the primary timeline and place them anywhere. Apple also added new keyframe easing options and text-to-image generation tools to the video software. In addition, users can send any image from a Final Cut Pro timeline directly into Pixelmator Pro for adjustments. Those changes then update automatically inside the video project without requiring an export or reimport.

Pixelmator Pro is gaining a Generate Fill tool along with text-to-image editing. Users can select or draw a circle over any section of a photo and type a written prompt explaining what to alter or add, letting the software’s AI handle the modifications.

Assistants across audio and office apps

Logic Pro will receive an experimental AI assistant developed with OpenAI. The assistant can generate vocal tracks from text prompts, start new songs, and edit existing music sessions. Logic Pro is also adding a Stem Splitter capability that lets musicians isolate or replace drum tracks.

The OpenAI technology extends into Apple’s office applications. Keynote, Pages, and Numbers are adding AI assistants that can work with OpenAI models alongside Apple’s native models and compatible outside AI tools. Users can call on the chatbot to animate slides in Keynote, draft written documents in Pages, and organize data inside Numbers spreadsheets.

Technical requirements for the updates

Several of the new software capabilities have specific hardware and operating system requirements. Running the beta assistant in Logic Pro for Mac requires a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence and runs macOS 27 Golden Gate or later. The assistants in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers require Apple’s AI features built into an iPhone, iPad, or Mac that runs the newest software version.

Within Final Cut Pro, certain features require Apple silicon processors. In addition, using the Apple Creator Studio edition of Final Cut Pro requires a Mac running macOS 26.6 or newer.

What the bundle costs and what happens next

The updates arrive in November as a free download for current subscribers. Apple Creator Studio costs $12.99 or $13 a month depending on the outlet, or $129 per year in the United States. In the United Kingdom, TechRadar reported it costs £12.99 per month or £129 per year, and in Australia it costs AU$19.99 monthly or AU$199 annually. An education plan is priced at $2.99, £2.99, or AU$4.99 per month, or $29.99, £29.99, or AU$49.99 each year.

The suite bundles Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Pixelmator Pro, Final Cut Pro, and Logic Pro on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. New customers can access a one-month trial at no charge, while buyers of a new Mac or certain iPads receive three free months. Customers can also buy standalone licenses without a subscription, with Final Cut Pro priced at $300, Logic Pro at $200, and Pixelmator Pro at $50.
