New York Giants pass rusher Brian Burns left Sunday’s 12-7 victory over Tennessee in the fourth quarter with an apparent knee injury.
New York Giants edge rusher Brian Burns left Sunday’s 12-7 Week 3 victory over the Tennessee Titans after suffering a knee injury early in the fourth quarter on the MetLife Stadium turf.
Burns went down with a non-contact right leg injury and needed help leaving the field, including assistance from teammate Aaron Stinnie, according to Pat Leonard of NYDN Sports. Burns was scheduled to undergo an MRI to evaluate the severity of the injury.
Burns played on Sunday after missing practice all week with a sprained left ankle suffered late in New York’s Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported before kickoff that Burns was active, which came as an unexpected lift for the team.
Reports differed on the outlook for Burns. Outlets including Gridiron Heroics and SB Nation reported that Burns suffered a season-ending torn ACL that will keep him out for the rest of 2026. Other outlets reported that an ACL tear was feared, while Giants head coach John Harbaugh said there is ‘some hope’ the injury is not season-ending.
The injury comes one week after the Giants lost starting quarterback Jaxson Dart, who suffered a severe knee injury in Week 2 that will sideline him for the rest of the 2026 NFL season.
