Minnesota left guard Donovan Jackson will need surgery for a torn meniscus suffered during Sunday’s win over Miami.
Minnesota Vikings left guard Donovan Jackson will likely miss the rest of the regular season with a torn meniscus in his knee that requires surgery, head coach Kevin O’Connell announced Monday.
Jackson, a second-year player, was injured during the first quarter of Sunday’s 15-10 home win over the Miami Dolphins.
The injury leaves Minnesota short-handed along the left side of its offensive line. Starting left tackle Christian Darrisaw exited Sunday’s game with a neck injury, was cleared to return, and later absorbed a hit to the head. O’Connell confirmed that Darrisaw is now in the concussion protocol.
The Vikings improved to 4-0 despite failing to score a touchdown in the first half against Miami. The team also played without wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who missed the game after spraining his left ankle in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. O’Connell hasn’t ruled out a return for Jefferson this week.
Minnesota travels to face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday before taking a bye in Week 6.
