On the occasion of Star Wars Day, Carrie Fisher, or the beloved Princess Leia, was posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in celebration and remembrance of the famous sci-fi movie franchise – Star Wars.
Carrie Fisher, who passed away at the age of 60, now unites with her Star Wars co-stars, Harrison Ford (awarded the star in 2003) and Mark Hamill (awarded the star in 2018), in receiving this prestigious honor. The unveiling ceremony of the 2754th Hollywood Walk of Fame star, dedicated to Fisher, took place in front of the historic TCL Chinese Theatre on Star Wars Day, May 4, at 11:30 AM PT.
The iHeartMedia personality Ellen K. presented the honor, and Billie Lourd, the late actress’s daughter, accepted the star on her mother’s behalf. Lourd expressed her pride and joy by saying, “Mama, you’ve made it.” and threw her mother’s favorite glitters on the star as a tribute (since Fisher liked to decorate her fans in glitter during fan meets). She was joined by hundreds of fans, some dressed as star wars characters for the event, along with Carrie’s Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill (who played Luke Skywalker), her friends, and colleagues in the industry.
