From August 14 until October 23, 2012, the makers of Hungry JackŽ are inviting Americans to share their original recipes in three different categories – Breakfast for Dinner, Appetizers, and Sweet Treats. The grand prize winner, the one with the best recipe, will be awarded a check for $8000.
The rules of the competition are simple – you need to live in the United States, be at least 18 years old, and you must make sure your recipe includes at least one of the qualifying Hungry Jack products (for a list, see www.useupthebox.com). The contest has been launched to find new great original recipes that families could enjoy.

“Over the past three years, we have been inspired by the ways that Hungry Jack pancake mix, syrup, and potatoes were used to create a wide variety of recipes sure to bring the whole family together for a satisfying meal,” said Maribeth Badertscher, Vice President, Corporate Communications, The J.M. Smucker Company. “We are thrilled to celebrate the fourth year of this contest and look forward to seeing the results of combining equal parts versatile Hungry Jack products with creativity in the kitchen.”
The top three recipes in each category will be put to an online vote in January 2013 and the winners will all get a check for $1000. The best recipe across all categories will receive a check for $8000.
Initial judging of all the submissions will be done by a panel of judges basing their decisions on the following criteria: creativity, ease of preparation, likely taste and visual appeal.
